Steve McCrindle
It is only a few weeks since Toon Hasselman and I were notified that we have again been elected GGI Global Chairs of the Indirect Taxes Practice Group (IDTPG). This is the start of our fourth 3-year term and we are humbled by the continued faith IDTPG members place in us. Thank you.
It has been a year of change for me personally, and I am now to be found at Prager Metis VAT Consulting Services LLP, based in Prager Metis’s London (UK) office. Other than the change of “mother ship”, for me it is Indirect Taxes business as usual.
I am pleased to announce that Michael Szewc, Mowery & Schoenfeld (USA), has been appointed Regional Chair North America of our GGI Indirect Taxes Practice Group. Although presently on paternity leave, Michael has begun his new Indirect Taxes role by contributing our lead article concerning online sales into the United States. Those of us tasked with managing VAT in its many guises for clients supplying online goods and services will appreciate what the US is trying to achieve, albeit there are some very interesting differences in how they view certain facets of this sector. If you wish to reach out to Michael, his contact details are included at the end of his article.
This edition of GGI FYI Indirect Taxes News features contributions from the US, Poland, Germany, Peru, Italy, Belgium, India, and the Netherlands, and includes articles from new as well as regular contributors. I continue to be surprised and delighted with the quality of the subjects discussed, the articulation of these subjects, and the global nature of the contributions. The Indirect Taxes Practice Group is truly global in its membership and reach, and I commend this newsletter to you.
In 2025, we plan to run IDTPG sessions at the Tax Summit (should it take place), European Conference, North American Conference, and World Conference.
My sincere thanks to all contributors and I look forward to seeing at least some of you at the GGI World Conference in Tokyo.Hope you enjoy the newsletter!
Kind regards,
Steve McCrindleResponsible Editor & Global Chair of the GGI Indirect Taxes Practice Group
