The situation in the world is still challenging - to say the least: first and foremost, the war in Ukraine, the gas and energy crisis, the uncertainty with COVID next winter and skyrocketing inflation. Fiscal authorities seem to be completely unimpressed by this and challenge taxpayers with new taxes, changes to the existing rules and to reporting requirements. So, it is good to know that with a GGI member firm on your side, you have a reliable partner who will let keep you updated on the changes relevant for you and give you recommendations how to legally avoid/reduce tax risks or profit from beneficial tax rules.
One example of this in connection with share deals is given by Bernhard Schwechel in his article “Debt push-down application under BEPS regulations in Germany”, who this time contributed our lead article. Niels Webersinn summarises key points of the Real Estate Tax reform in Germany for us and shows us that this has become so complicated due to decentralisation.
Those of you investing in Switzerland may be interested to read about changes to the reporting procedure of Swiss withholding tax in the group from Philipp Schmidig, whereas Cédric-Olivier Jenoure and Sascha Wohlgemuth explain the “Effects of Switzerland’s company law revision from a tax law perspective”.
Prof Sergio Guerrero Rosas reports how on how Mexico is skipping with energy reforms and explains why that is one step forward and two steps back.
Those having to deal with transfer pricing may be surprised to learn in the article “The onerous Australian country-by-country reporting obligations” from Tony Nunes that the Australian-specific rules that go beyond OECD requirements. Prof Roberto M. Cagnazzo reports on how the “Italian Revenue Agency explains the arm’s length range in transfer pricing”.
