Dr Karl Friedrich Dumoulin
"A huge thank you to all of you who have helped shape the content of our LDR PG by offering inspirational presentations and continually contributing to our FYI LDR PG News to provide guidance, insightful help and advice."
Whether you are located in the northern or southern hemisphere, I hope you enjoyed a pleasant summer or winter respectively. Fortunately, Covid-19 no longer has the world at the same level of turmoil as in preceding years, and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the situation will continue to improve.
Unfortunately, other developments in world politics have cast a shadow over our professional and private lives. Against this backdrop, I am very glad that we have regained a certain measure of normality in our GGI family. In-person events have already taken place this year (the GGI European Regional Conference in Limassol and the GGI North American Regional Conference in Washington, DC), and there are even more in-person events to come later this year (most notably the GGI World Conference in Montreal, but also the GGI Asia-Pacific Regional Conference in Bangkok).
I am very grateful that once again so many members have contributed to our PG newsletter.
As usual, articles are grouped into those on substantive and those on procedural topics. I highly recommend all of them to you. They give you a truly global picture of various issues in the field of litigation and dispute resolution. The lead article from French member firm Herald deals with the legal aspects of defective electrical batteries incorporated in vehicles. In addition, we have a wonderful mix of articles from many other members. Negotiations of commercial contracts by M. ELIADES & PARTNERS (Cyprus), Imposition of sanctions as force majeure: A judicial perspective by Nektorov, Saveliev & Partners (Russia), Inheritance of digital assets online and offline by COMMA 10 (Italy), Post-Brexit: Enforcement of British judgments in the Netherlands by TeekensKarstens (The Netherlands), and Sea change in the way evidence is given in commercial litigation in the English courts by Ward Hadaway (UK).
Close international communicating and networking is the DNA of GGI, and it is more relevant than ever. Our PG newsletter is an important tool for GGI members to showcase their firms. I invite all of you to use this tool.
Our next Practice Group meeting will be held during the GGI World Conference in Montreal, Canada, on 22 October 2022.
I look forward to seeing you again soon, either at a webinar or at one of the upcoming GGI conferences.
Warm regards,
