Dr Karl Friedrich Dumoulin
The past few months have had their good and bad sides. On the one hand, they were marked by the return to our normal lives after the pandemic subsided and almost all restrictions were lifted. On the other hand, the Ukraine conflict continues (with no resolution in sight in the near future) and the banking sector is making itself felt again in an unpleasant way.
As I write this, spring is awakening here in Germany, reminding us of the opportunities and possibilities that life offers us. The upcoming GGI European Regional Conference in Amsterdam will provide a fantastic setting for all members to catch up with old friends and make new ones, discuss the latest developments in business and generally enhance their business. Our GGI FYI Practice Group Newsletter is just one example of how vibrant our GGI alliance is.
I am very grateful that so many members have again contributed to this issue of our Practice Group Newsletter - in addition to their day-to-day business obligations.
This time, ten authors sent in articles. A truly impressive response from our members. I highly recommend them all to you.
Our lead article by Ward Hadaway (UK) is about “UK government commits to international commercial mediation by signing Singapore Convention.”
This is followed by the article "Appealing the denial of a motion to compel arbitration: would this mandate a suspension of the underlying litigation?" by Moritt Hock & Hamroff LLP (USA), "Supply chain law and its impact on litigation" by FPS (Germany), "The enterprise chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal" by TeekensKarstens (The Netherlands), "Lost profits vs. lost value in calculation of economic damages" by Cendrowski Corporate Advisors (USA), "Claim Recovery in Poland" by Penteris (Poland), "Avoiding a Jury Trial in the US Court System" by Ervin Cohen & Jessup LLP (USA), "Corporate lawyers and business owners beware: Creditor-proofing may be over in Ontario" by Pallett Valo LLP (Canada), and, last but not least, ”The new Italian civil process" by Bussoletti Nuzzo & Associati (Italy).
As you can see, our GGI FYI Practice Group Newsletter is a fantastic forum for GGI members to showcase their expertise. I invite you all to make the most of this great opportunity.
Our next Practice Group meeting will be held during the GGI Regional Conference in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, during 11-14 May 2023.
I look forward to meeting you again next time.
With best wishes and kind regards,
Dr Karl Friedrich DumoulinResponsible Editor & Global Vice Chair of the GGI LDR PG
