Dr Karl Friedrich Dumoulin
I hope you all had a great summer or a great winter, as the case may be.
The GGI World Conference in Lisbon is approaching rapidly. Against this background I am very glad that once again we are able to present to you an issue of our GGI FYI Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group newsletter full of highly interesting articles.
The contributions can be grouped into topics of procedural law and topics of substantive law.
On the subject matter of procedural law we have articles from Mexico – Mexico’s new National Code of Civil and Family Procedures and the implementation of new technology trends by Alonso Chávez and Luis Rodrigo Aguilar; Poland – Changes to interim injunction procedures in Poland: The impact on IP Cases by Bartosz Jankowski and Marzanna Sobaniec; The Netherlands – Article 21 of the Dutch Code of Civil Procedure vs. American Discovery: Navigating the Path to Justice by Michiel Teekens; the UK – Compulsory Mediation by Nichola Evans and Melissa Munday;and also from the UK – Key considerations for dealing with blackmail by Helen Morris; the US – The Eleventh Circuit Joins the Majority of Circuits in Finding Grounds to Vacate a Non-domestic Arbitration Award under the FAA by Leslie A. Berkoff; and Germany – Commercial Courts in Germany by Karl Friedrich Dumoulin.
In the field of substantive law we have articles from Italy – Celebrities 4.0 by Mariagiulia Signori and Cecilia Trevisi; and Spain – Whistleblowing Channels in Spain: A compliance Guide for Foreign Companies operating in Spain by Jordi Pallarès.
I am very grateful that once again so many members have contributed to our newsletter. Your generous and engaged support of our practice group, in addition to your day-to-day business obligations, is greatly appreciated.
All eight articles reflect that GGI is a truly worldwide alliance. Ahead of the GGI World Conference in Lisbon, our newsletter reflects and connects very well to the character of Lisbon as a harbour city having the European continent as its backyard and facing the Atlantic Ocean and the “New World”.
I take this opportunity to invite you all to submit your article suggestions now for our upcoming FYI LDR practice group newsletter, and thus to make it even more relevant to all our readers.
Our next LDR Practice Group meeting will be held during the GGI World Conference in Lisbon, Portugal (19–20 October 2023) as a combined meeting with the Debt Collection, Restructuring & Insolvency (DCRI) Practice Group.
I look forward to meeting you there.
