Andrzej Tokaj
I am delighted to begin my tenure as Editor of the GGI FYI Real Estate Newsletter and carry the torch for Real Estate. The honour is even greater since this issue of the Real Estate Newsletter contains several splendid articles.
To begin with, Ross Forester discusses the increasing costs of owning vacant land in Australia. Another voice from Australia is Tony Nunes who discusses stamp duty regime changes for land transfer and corporate restructure transactions in New South Wales.
Over in the Netherlands, Joost Donkersloot summarises changes to rental regulations pertaining to the Dutch residential market.
We also have two articles discussing the real estate market from the perspective of the green transformation and climate change. Mario Kapp and Raffaela Lödl-Klein tell us about the recent ban on oil and gas heating systems in Austria as a step towards achieving climate neutrality in Austria by 2040.
Finally, my Penteris colleague Sebastian Janicki writes about the actions and regulations of the EU under the umbrella of its ESG policy which aims at making commercial properties a lot greener.
Many thanks to all the contributors of this edition, and I hope you all enjoy reading our Real Estate articles.
We will, of course, have the chance to take a deeper dive into the market during the European Regional Conference in Malta, during which the Real Estate Practice Group will host a meeting.
We have a roster of excellent speakers tackling topics like Second/Retirement Home Opportunities in Malta; New Green Regulations Promoting Solar Panels on Commercial Buildings; and Judicial/Extrajudicial Instruments for Restructuring Property Companies.
We will also have the opportunity to discuss and exchange views on the status of our real estate markets in Europe.
I look forward to seeing you all in Malta!
