GARDEN CITY, NY; 20 October 2022 — Moritt Hock & Hamroff LLP has announced that Julia Gavrilov, a partner of the firm, has been recently appointed to serve as a member of the Equipment Leasing & Finance Association’s (ELFA) Equity Committee and as a member of its Legal Resources Subcommittee.
The Equity Committee is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within ELFA, its member organisations, and in the equipment finance industry at large. As part of her new appointment, Ms Gavrilov will serve as a member of the ELFA’s Equity Forum subcommittee to plan the inaugural ELFA Equity Forum scheduled to be held on 06–07 November in Washington, D.C.
The Legal Resources Subcommittee, on behalf of the ELFA’s Legal Committee, provides updates of the association’s 50-state compendium and other ELFA resources on legal matters pertinent to the industry in various jurisdictions.
Ms Gavrilov focuses her practice on equipment leasing and finance, secured lending and all areas of complex commercial litigation. In her 15 years of practice, she has emerged as a recognised leader in the industry, on both the transactional and litigation sides. Ms Gavrilov is a member of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA) where she serves on its Service Providers Business Council Steering Committee, Membership Committee, Equity Committee, Legal Resources Subcommittee, and the Research Committee of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Foundation. She is also member of the Secured Finance Network’s (SFNet) Women in Secured Finance Committee, as well as a member of the GGI-Worldwide Alliance of Independent Law Firms. In 2020, SFNet recognised Ms Gavrilov as one of its Top 40 Under 40 Rising Stars and as one of its Top Women in Commercial Finance. In 2021, the Monitordaily recognised her as one of its Top Women in Equipment Finance, and as one of its NextGen Leaders.

Jill is a member of Moss & Barnett’s real estate and real estate finance teams, representing clients in a broad range of general real estate transactions and representing lenders who originate and sell loans secured by multifamily projects to secondary market investors, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Within this practice, she examines title, survey, and other due diligence items, reviews legal opinions, prepares loan documents, and works with all transaction parties to ensure a smooth closing. Jill received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of St. Thomas School of Law and her BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Catherine, a highly regarded lawyer with more than 17 years of construction and general civil litigation experience, was one of the founding partners of a boutique construction law firm in Toronto and, prior to that, a partner at a prominent Toronto-based full-service firm.
Certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a specialist in construction law, she represents owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, as well as design and engineering professionals on claims, or on the defence of claims. In addition, Catherine has defended public authorities, including municipalities, in matters involving allegations of negligent design, supervision, and inspection.
In 2020, Catherine was named as a Fellow of the Construction Lawyers’ Society of America. She is vice-chair and executive member of the Ontario Bar Association Construction and Infrastructure Law Section; a past executive committee member, board member, and vice-chair of the Manufacturers, Suppliers and Services Council of the Canadian Construction Association; and a past member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Canadian Construction Association.
