Join us in Bangkok! Like GGI, Bangkok is a city of contrasts; it combines so many different flavours and cultures, traditional and modern architecture. We are proud to have so many different cultures united in our GGI family. We look forward to meeting YOU, in order to catch up, enjoy each other's company, widen our network, and strengthen ties with like-minded professionals and colleagues.
We are delighted to have two keynote speakers at this Conference.
Firstly, Thitinan Pongsudhirak is Professor and Director of the Institute of Security and International Studies at Bangkok’s Chulalongkorn University. He was born in Thailand and grew up in a multilingual background, completing his degrees at the University of California and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, with an award-winning PhD from London School of Economics. Thitinan has held visiting positions at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and Stanford University, and currently serves on several editorial boards of academic journals, including Journal of Democracy. He has authored a host of articles, books, book chapters and over 1,000 op-eds in mass media such as The Bangkok Post, The Straits times, Nikkei Asian Review, South China Morning Post, International New York times, Project Syndicate, and Financial Times. His sought-after views have appeared in international media including CNN, BBC, Bloomberg, CNBC, Aljazeera, and others. His work focuses on comparative politics and geopolitics/geoeconomics of ASEAN and East Asia in view of the US-China rivalry and competition. In 2015, he was awarded a prize for excellence in opinion writing from Society of Publishers in Asia; in March 2018, he was appointed ASEAN@50 Fellow by New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs & Trade; and in May 2019, he was selected as Australia-ASEAN Fellow at Sydney’s Lowy Institute.
Our second keynote speaker is already well-known to some GGI members, as he has been a keynote speaker at other GGI events previously. Juerg Kiener is presently the Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer at Swiss Asia Capital (Singapore) Pte Ltd and has more than 40 years’ experience in the banking industry, with extensive knowledge in the private banking, asset management and securities industries. Juerg has gained considerable global investment experience, having taken up positions in Zurich, Geneva, Johannesburg, London, Guernsey, Hong Kong and Singapore with two leading Swiss banks, Credit Suisse and Union Bancaire Privee, and has been instrumental in establishing the Private Banking offices in Asia and as a CIO for both. For the past 22 years at Swiss Asia Capital (Singapore) Pte Ltd, his investment emphasis has been global resources focusing on hard-rock mining and in particularly precious and green metals. His specialty is targeted at investing in late development-stage and producing resource companies for portfolio inclusion into in-house funds and tailor-made investment structures like managed accounts/bespoke mandates and investment certificates as well Private Equity investments.
On Saturday you can get to know your GGI colleagues in a fun, relaxed environment.
The morning will start with a 90-minute transfer to the Mae Klong Railway Market (also known as the Hoop Rom Market). This is a local market in the Samut Songkhram Province, commonly called the Siang Tai (translates to “life-risking”) Market. It is one of the most amazing attractions in the province. Spread over a 100-metre length, the market is located by the railway near the Mae Klong Railway Station.
After this, we will visit the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, which opens at sunrise and closes at noon. This vibrant market features numerous small boats laden with colourful fruits and vegetables, peddled by Thai women wearing bamboo hats. Almost always crowded with hundreds of vendors, shoppers and tourists, the best way to experience the atmosphere of the market is to board a rowing boat yourself and make your way through the canals to buy fresh produce from the vendors. This is the best way to see the traditional way of buying and selling goods in Thailand.
This is our first conference back in the region post-pandemic. With travel restrictions still in place in several countries in the region, we are prepared for a small but mighty conference. It's going to be great fun, see you there!
The Bahamas is another one of those listings that has been on our calendar since 2020. We are excited to finally be going to Paradise Island, Nassau, in 2023!
Our friends at GGI member Kikivarakis & Co. have been patiently waiting for you.
They look forward to welcoming you to Nassau with its pristine, powdery-soft white sand, sparkling turquoise waters, and an average of 300 sunny days each year, which means every day is a beach day in The Bahamas. Atlantis Bahamas is a first class resort with activities for any visitor to enjoy.
We have a terrific programme planned, covering Best Practices, Marketing Professionals and Developing Leaders. There are also some additional Practice Group meetings, in the form of an extra day in the case of the GGI ITPG Global Tax Summit (hosted by the North American and Latin American ITPG Leadership Teams) and a GCG M&A Dealmakers Meeting, both running from 18-19 January 2023, or as additional options within the programme, e.g. the Business Development & Marketing (BDM) Practice Group, the Trust & Estate Planning (TEP) Practice Group, and the DEI Special Interest Group.
Our keynote speakers may be familiar to you also, as they have presented at GGI PG Webinars last year.
Josh Cantrell is a Certified StoryBrand “Guide” and the founder of the marketing agency, Signal Brandworks. He and his team help B2B services and technology companies find the right words they need to close the right clients. He has worked with hundreds of clients to help them clarify their messaging, build automated marketing systems that work, and use the right content at the right time to make selling easier.
Josh is a big believer in the idea that being clear is more important than being clever. And that marketing doesn’t have to be complex to make you a lot of money.
As owner of Kelly Frager Professional Development and Training, Kelly Frager partners with organizations to help them maximize the power of their people through training and consulting. She brings to the table over 30 years of experience in the field and understands the dynamic nature of communication and employee engagement.
We hope you are able to join us for this terrific event in the sun. Book early as our room rates are only guaranteed until 16 December 2022.

Benefit from the fantastic opportunities the conference may hold for your business. The event is open to GGI members active in the region, as well as those with an interest in expanding their operations into the area. Do not miss this opportunity to explore Dubai in the company of your fellow GGI members.
The Middle East & Africa is incredibly diverse, and this diversity creates a need for deeper understanding of tax laws and administration processes across the region. The African continent is emerging as a focused strategic investment for many multinational corporations looking to access new markets. Many African countries have unique tax laws that are best understood by local professionals. Conversely, the Middle East is a hub for investment where generous tax incentives and free trade zones have made the region a popular destination for a variety of industries. Whilst it would appear that tax is not much of a concern in these countries, it is the very lack of tax laws and complexities that make it an interesting region to be understood by foreign tax professionals.
The focus of GGI’s Middle East & Africa Regional Conference is to bring together GGI members in the region, as well as those from other regions who have an interest in exploring mutual business opportunities.
We will update you on the detailed conference programme in the January edition of INSIDER.
