It is exciting to turn the page and head into the New Year of 2023.
With the war in Ukraine, delivery shortages, economic downturns and alarming inflation, 2022 was a turbulent year. To focus on the positive aspects of the past year, we cannot express how glad we were to have been able to meet in person again. We shared fantastic moments during 2022’s GGI conferences and we are already planning ahead for our next events.
GGI Practice Group Global Chairs will meet in Zurich at the beginning of February to deepen relationships, learn from each other, discover potential synergies, and exchange ideas. Just one week later the GGI Middle East Africa (MEA) Regional Conference will be held in Dubai, UAE. In May, GGI members will gather in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, for our European Regional Conference. Preparations are going full speed ahead and our host firms have fantastic ideas to ensure an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
We continued to innovate and find paths to simplify networking for GGI members. We are currently developing a new GGI website, which we aim to present during the European Regional Conference in Amsterdam in May 2023. We already can reveal this much — you can expect an advanced smart search, customised views in the internal section, and more specific contact information. Please take the opportunity to check your contact details on the GGI website and ensure that all your details are correct and complete. Add as much information as possible (key competencies, services you offer, industrial sectors, etc…) to ensure you will easily be found in relevant search requests.
As usual, this issue of the INSIDER aims to keep you abreast of the latest GGI news, such as the most recent Accountancy Age rankings of networks, alliances, and associations, which firmly positions GGI in second place worldwide (and first place in terms of multi-disciplinary associations worldwide). Stay up-to-date on the news from other GGI member firms and share in their success stories.
We are grateful for the wide variety of expert contributions in this issue:
Lex Keukens and Marlissa Rudolphij( both TeekensKarstens, The Netherlands) report on an EU Regulation: the Artificial Intelligence Act. Simon Jeffery and Nick Mina (Theta Insights + Modelling, UK) explain how data analytics and modelling can be used to improve your deals. Niels Webersinn( nbs partners, Germany) provides an update on the GloBE rules and minimum taxation after the EU ECOFIN meeting on 06 December 2022. Edward Hendrickx (EJP Financial Astronauts, The Netherlands) examines carefully the timely topic of finding talented employees, recruiting them and keeping them engaged in the long-term. Dylan S. Fisher (Pallett Valo LLP, Canada) provides a brief guide to arbitration enforcement in Ontario.
Richard Collins (Director of CSR Accreditation, UK) decodes for the readership two often-used terms: CSR (corporate social responsibility) and ESG (environment, social, and corporate governance).
Don’t miss the opportunity to share your expertise and keep your GGI fellows updated on happenings in your firm. Send us your contributions for future INSIDER editions – this is YOUR publication.
We are going into the new year with great optimism, highly motivated and with many plans for the coming months. We look forward to meeting many of you at this year’s events.
We hope you enjoy reading this issue of the INSIDER and take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2023.
Your GGI Team
