This invitation-only annual event provides an opportunity for the Global Chairs of all GGI Practice Groups to get together, to exchange ideas and best practices for running their PGs.
Hosted by GGI member firm Al Zarooni Tureva, Auditors, Accountants, Advisors, this conference promises a varied programme which will allow you to network aplenty while experiencing local hospitality.
The Swiss Ambassador of Switzerland to the UAE and Bahrain, H.E. Massimo Baggi, has agreed to open the event.
Mohamed Isa, already familiar to some of you from previous events, will deliver a keynote speech on “Leadership: The Everest Way”. For those of you who don't know him yet, Mohamed is an award-winning Bahraini speaker and a best-selling author on Amazon. He is a savvy business consultant with over 20 years of experience. He started his career with Unilever. Then, he joined an executive team that took a startup company from USD 63 million to USD 528 million in just four years. In December 2015, he left his C-level post to pursue his true passions: speaking, writing, and traveling. He is an adventurous person. He leaped from a 250-meter tower into the open air, paraglided from 2,000 metres, and jumped from an airplane from a height of 4,000 metres!
Our second keynote speaker, Keith Warburton is an internationally-recognised expert on the impact of cross-border cultural differences and global communication issues. He works with some of the world’s great companies, as well as professional service firms, governments and higher education establishments.
Keith will look at “Working in a Global Environment – the Cultural Perspective”. His practical application of this topic to the commerciality of any business comes from a career which saw him work in Europe, the Middle East and Asia for a twenty-year period. Having worked across the world at C-level, he understands global business and has the ability to ally his vast cultural knowledge and communication skills to your business and your sector.
In the afternoon, attending GGI members will deliver presentations (if you are registered and would like to make a presentation, please contact Anita Szoeke).
You shouldn't leave this event without having discovered the beauty of Dubai. We take you for an excursion in the afternoon to the Zabeel Palace and Souk Al Madinat Jumeirah. Originally built in the 1950’s, Zabeel Palace was once the home of Dubai’s then ruler Sheikh Rashid. It is in the Zabeel area, which was formerly just bare land covered with sand. Today, it is surrounded by glitzy buildings that make up the skyline of Dubai. There is another newer Zabeel Palace in the vicinity, but it is the old palace that is full of charm.
Another opportunity to network before you head home. During an optional excursion on Sunday morning, you can explore Old Dubai and experience an abra crossing. This excursion will expose you to the older architecture of Dubai, including the Al Bastakiah. Built in the 1700’s, this is the oldest functional building in the city, originally built with coral and shells which were cemented together with lime. You will also take a ride on a traditional boat made of wood, called an abra.

Come join us in Amsterdam for a wonderful GGI European Regional Conference. Amsterdam's canal-woven core is laced with atmospheric narrow lanes. You never know what you'll find: a tiny hidden garden; a boutique selling witty, stylised Dutch-designed homewares and fashion; an old monastery-turned-classical-music-venue; or an ultra-niche restaurant such as an all-avocado specialist. The city of canals provides treasure-packed museums, vintage-filled shops, and picturesque tilting gabled houses.
Amsterdam is one of Europe's best-preserved 17th century cities, yet the city has a fun and contemporary edge as it's a progressive place with a "live and let live" spirit. Laid out in the 16th century, during Holland's "Golden Age" when Dutch merchant ships made this the world's richest city, the historic core of the city is still pretty much the same. There are hundreds of bridges and a series of concentric canals, flanked by townhouses with fancy gables. You'll see in this city more bikes than cars, interesting coffee shops that don't necessarily sell coffee, world-class art masterpieces, and – during this time of the year – some of the most beautiful collections of flowers you'll ever see anywhere in the world.
Besides the marvellous city centre with its cosy atmosphere, Amsterdam is also home to cutting-edge tech start-ups, as well as some of Europe's hottest clubs.
Take the time to see what the city has to offer by signing up for one or more of the optional excursions we have planned, which includes a trip to Keukenhof on the Wednesday for those planning to arrive early. Keukenhof is known to be the most beautiful spring garden in the world, and its history dates back to the 15th century. Here you will see 7 million spring-flowering bulbs, alongside sculptures and other works of art from 25 different artists. It's a must-see attraction if you're in the Netherlands in the spring.
We are especially delighted to have five different sponsoring host firms for this event: de Jong & Laan, JAN© Accountants and Business Consultants, LIMES International tax + expat, Schipper Groep, and of course TeekensKarstens advocaten notarissen. You will no doubt have already made friends with one or more GGI colleagues from these firms as they so often make sure to fly the Dutch flag at our events all over the world. Why not reach out to them, visit their offices, and ask them to recommend to you some of the other must-see attractions while you're in the Netherlands? After all, this is what being a part of the #ggifamily is all about.
Registration is open. GGI members may register for the event by logging into the internal area of our website (ggi.com) > Upcoming Events > locate the event > click on the external link.
Considering the wonderful welcome we were given in Washington, DC, last year, we can't wait to head stateside once again ... this time to none other than Beverly Hills, California.
Yes, you might fly into Los Angeles, but Beverly Hills is practically a world apart. It's the stuff that international fantasies are made of and we will based in none other than the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel, made famous by Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in the "Pretty Woman" movie. Accompanying persons might like to know that the hotel has an entrance that leads directly onto Rodeo Drive … and credit cards are very useful here.
Our host firms, Ervin Cohen & Jessup LLP and Prager Metis International, including (Nagano Morita LLP, a Division of Prager Metis CPAs), have been very hands-on in helping us to put together a programme that will showcase the best that California has to offer. They're looking forward to welcoming you, so make sure you reach out to your contacts in these firms for travel and gourmet recommendations.
This event is confirmed! We're delighted to be returning to Oslo, by special invitation. Knut Rishovd and Flattum & Co AS look forward to welcoming members back to their city.
The contract has been signed with the Grand Hotel Oslo, home to the annual Nobel Peace Prize banquets. We're just waiting to confirm the budget before we open registrations.
Save the dates in your diary! If you attended the last event here in Oslo, you already know that it's going to be a lot of fun with a lot of Knut. If you didn't attend that event, just ask Brian Marita bout his walk in the Vigeland Park…
