GGI Special Interest Group Corporate Governance & Compliance achieves Practice Group status
GGI Internal News
As leaders of the GGI Corporate Governance & Compliance Special Interest Group, Tony Soukenik and Dr Peter Wagesreiter took the reins and developed the group by ensuring continuity with regular meetings filled with engaging topics and fascinating presentations. This included many infomrational webinars during the pandemic, which were much appreciated and well-attended.
Tony and Peter skilfully motivated GGI members to contribute and involved many members in the group’s activities. Their story is surely a case study in best practices for future Practice Group leaders.
Currently the group boasts 185 members. The two managed to catapult the Corporate Governance & Compliance Special Interest Group into the next league – a stable, mature group. With immediate effect, this group is officially a GGI Practice Group.
For members of this Practice Group, not too much will change – you may still expect regular, worthwhile meetings. New projects might come up, and you will be able to elect the Global Leadership Team this year in the autumn. Until the first elections for this PG later this year, Tony and Peter will continue to run the group.
If you have ideas for topics or projects, or if you wish to get more involved in the Corporate Governance & Compliance PG (e.g. present at a conference, organise gatherings, etc.), Peter and Tony would be delighted to hear from you.
On the other hand, if you're not yet a member and would like to join this PG, please feel free to contact Peter or Tony directly, or Barbara at GGI Head Office.
Definitions:
GGI Expert Group: generic term that covers all three groups listed below.
GGI Special Interest Group (SIG): An initial start-up interest group, and the first step needed to form a Practice Group (PG). All PGs start as SIGs (looser structure, smaller size, start-ups). If you have an idea for a new SIG, contact Barbara at GGI Head Office to discuss.
GGI Practice Group (PG): PGs gather GGI professionals from a particular area of practice (mature groups, more formal than a SIG). Rights and duties are defined in the PG Guidelines.
GGI Industry Group (IG): IGs gather GGI professionals based on common lines of business. IGs have separate guidelines to the PGs.
All guidelines are available in the internal area of GGI’s website.
