nbs partners is again one of the top auditing firms in Germany and receives the award “Best Auditors 2023” from Handelsblatt.
In the study conducted by the Hamburg-based market research company S.W.I. Finance Deutschland on behalf of Handelsblatt, the aim is to provide accurate answers to specialist questions from certain specialist areas. Those who achieved at least 70% of the maximum number of points made it onto the best list. The CPAs from nbs partners achieved a high score, which secured them the coveted top position.

WORCESTER, MA, 09 April 2024 — Mirick O’Connell announced today that Paul W. Carey and Robert L. Kilroy have been appointed Co-Managing Partners. For the first time in the firm’s history, two partners have been elected to share the role. They are taking over from David E. Surprenant, who has served as Managing Partner for 22 years and will continue to offer his strategic guidance in the newly created role of Chairman of the Firm.

Kilroy has been a member of Mirick O’Connell’s management committee since 2020 and previously served as chair of the firm’s labour, employment and employee benefits group and as the firm’s marketing chair. A strategic employment litigator with considerable experience in the courtroom, Kilroy applies the rigour, determination, and discipline instilled in him during his ten years of active-duty service as a United States Marine Corps officer to obtain the best possible outcomes for his clients.
Carey, an integral part of Mirick O'Connell since 1995, is a member of the firm’s management committee and has led the firm’s recruiting committee as Hiring Partner. Carey is a Partner in the firm's creditors' rights, bankruptcy, and reorganisation group, and represents borrowers, lenders and creditors navigating through troubled commercial relationships. He has earned the esteemed AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, reflecting his exceptional legal skills and ethical standards. His pro bono work has also earned him recognition on multiple occasions in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts' Pro Bono Honour Roll.

Prior to joining Moritt Hock & Hamroff, Ahmed interned with multiple law firms in New York and California, gaining valuable experience and expertise in multiple practice areas including corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, privacy and cybersecurity, intellectual property and employment law. She earned her JD from the University of California, Irvine School of Law.
Natalia Thomas concentrates her practice on all aspects of commercial mortgage foreclosure litigation. She earned her JD from St. John’s University School of Law.
Tina M. Kassangana's diverse practice includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, securities, general corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and secured lending. Her additional corporate experiences include leading and chairing buyer-side RWI, underwriting due diligence matters. Kassangana’s practice experience spans multiple sectors, including but not limited to fintech, NFTs, cannabis, medical devices, professional services, healthcare, insurance, construction, and manufacturing. Moe returns to the firm after serving as General Counsel for ACA International, a trade association for the accounts receivable management industry. He also represents clients in class action litigation and regulatory actions brought under those and similar financial laws and regulations.
Moe has extensive in-house legal experience as both general counsel and chief compliance officer for companies. In those roles, he built compliance management systems, managed client and regulator audits, examinations, and other proceedings, and handled a wide variety of business and corporate legal matters. He also has extensive experience representing debtors, creditors, trustees, and other parties in bankruptcy matters, including preference and fraudulent transfer actions.
