Accountants and tax advisors, we hear you.
It came to our attention that the date we set for this event in September did not suit many of our members involved in tax, as it is too close to a tax deadline in the US. While an event filled with only lawyers can be a lot of fun, it would be a shame to not have more accountants, auditors and tax advisors on board, given that we are a multidisiplinary network. We've therefore taken the decision to postpone this event to the beginning of 2025 (January or February). We will update you in the next issue of INSIDER with regards to the new dates, as soon as they are confirmed.
Regardless of the postponement, we continue to plan the programme. Let us know what best practices you would like to share, or stories about successful GGI partnerships that have created great bonds between your firm and another GGI member firm. Suggestions by email to either Niko Brosnihan or Linda Soriton.
Tallinn is calling! Join us this September in this impossibly photogenic town with an amazing urban and digital landscape.
A quick reminder for our European members that the LAST event in the region this year will be these two [COMBINED] events: the GGI Nordic-Baltic Meeting and the GGI EasyMeet (for Developing Leaders). If you're not going to be able to join us in Tokyo, we'd especially love to see you here.Members from the Nordic-Baltic region are always welcoming to those from outside the region -- and traditionally, while we prioritise presentations from members in the region, we are also happy to discuss Europe-wide issues during this meeting.
We're delighted to have Marko Mihkelson back as a keynote speaker. Marko is Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament. He was first elected to the Parliament in 2003 and is starting to serve his sixth mandate. He has served in previous parliaments as a Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Chair of the EU Affairs Committee and Chair of the National Defense Committee. Between 2000 and 2003, he worked as the Director of the Baltic Centre for Russian Studies; from 1997 to 2000, he was the Editor-in-Chief of the biggest national daily newspaper Postimees; and from 1994 to 1997, he was Postimees’ correspondent in Moscow. Marko has an MA degree in History from the University of Tartu. In addition to chairing the Council of Foreign Relations of Estonia, he is also a member of the Council of the European Council of Foreign Relations and ICDS. Finally, he is also author of the books "Russia: In Dusk and Dawn“ (2010) and “The Disruptive Era” (2018).
This year, we are also running an EasyMeet meeting, where we encourage the next generation of members to start to build their connections within the GGI network and to share their expertise with their cohorts.
The EasyMeet in Tallinn will be the first one since Stockholm in 2019. While we've noticed that many of our previous EasyMeet attendees have "graduated" onto the larger GGI events, we know for sure that there are still many developing leaders in our member firms who would truly benefit from also building their own networks within GGI.We hope therefore that you will be able to support this upcoming event in the autumn with at least one developing leader from your firm, where we can ensure some fun and camaraderie, but also a programme that will encourage critical thinking, decision-making, emotional intelligence and strategic thinking. After all, leaders skills are not always inborn, but they can be nurtured and developed.
Tax professionals might also be excited to know that there will be a Young ITPG (International Taxation Practice Group) session (for tax professionals under the age of 40) just prior to the start of the event.
Our gracious hosts, Grow Finance OÜ and Sirel & Partners Attorneys at Law, are looking forward to welcoming fellow GGI colleagues to their hometown.

We are excited to travel to the vibrant city of Tokyo, Japan, for our GGI World Conference in November. This event will also include our GGI Asia-Pacific Regional Conference, as well as a GCG M&A Dealmakers Meeting. A registration for the GGI World Conference will include the other two events, as there will not be any additional registration fees to attend either or both.
Tokyo is special. Nowhere else has quite the same mix of timeless history and space-age tech, of strict tradition and up-to-the-second fashions, of bewildering crowds and moments of utter serenity. It's the past and future wrapped up together into one thrilling package – and understandably, it's one of the top tourist destinations on the planet.
We are delighted to have two sponsoring host firms based in Tokyo: IDEA International Accounting Office and Kojima Law Offices. In case you have some time to connect with them during your trip, do make sure to reach out to them.
The GGI World Conference, set against the backdrop of Tokyo's dynamic blend of tradition and innovation, offers an unparalleled opportunity to connect with like-minded GGI and GCG professionals from the region and around the globe. Of course, there will be the usual superb platform for learning, growing, and developing, but we also plan to jointly discover Tokyo's culture and delicious food. We are sure that we will have loads of fun while networking and creating valuable memories.
