The event, which attracted over 100 leaders from key Highland sectors, highlighted the transformative potential of the freeport for the region’s economy through strengthened supply chains and infrastructure. Esteemed speakers, including Calum MacPherson of ICF Green Freeport and Amy Lambert from the UK government, shared valuable insights on how the freeport could benefit the community.
The WJM team also celebrated a raft of new appointments and internal promotions, including Esme Macfarlane’s promotion to partner. Esme, a significant contributor to our renewables property team for nearly nine years, will chair WJM’s renewables seminar in November 2024. We’re delighted to recognise her dedication and commitment to our clients.
In the realm of family law, Tom Quail, our head of family law, recently published a new book that provides crucial advice for lawyers and the public in navigating the complexities of child welfare disputes. Invited by the publisher to author this timely resource, Tom draws on over 30 years of expertise to address the real-life challenges faced by families and legal practitioners navigating Scotland’s evolving legal landscape in his guide, A Practical Guide to Contact and Residence Disputes.
Finally, WJM was pleased to continue its sponsorship of the Linlithgow 10K, marking a decade of support for this annual event. Six team members joined 1,000 runners, with other colleagues volunteering along the route. We extend special thanks to partner Alison Marshall, who plays a key role on the organising committee, ensuring the race’s continued success.
