UK accountancy firm Monahans has been awarded Silver Accreditation by CSR-A in recognition of its commitment to responsible business practices.
This is the firm’s first accreditation under the CSR-A framework, following an independent assessment across four key areas: environmental impact, workplace culture, community engagement, and philanthropy.
The accreditation process has encouraged Monahans to embed sustainability into its operations, from supplier relationships to staff development and local engagement.
Speaking about the achievement, Sophie Austin, Operations Partner at Monahans said, “We’re really pleased to have received this recognition. It’s a great achievement for our firm, but more importantly, it confirms that the steps we’re taking are making a difference.”
She further added: “Our aim has always been to build a business that’s not just successful, but responsible too. That means thinking carefully about how we operate, how we support our people, and how we contribute to the wider community. This accreditation helps us understand where we’re making an impact and where there’s still more to be done.”
Monahans has introduced a range of measures to strengthen its environmental and social impact. Initiatives include baseline carbon data collection, a sustainable procurement policy, and a hybrid model reducing business travel. The firm has also invested in its people through apprenticeships, internal development, and carbon literacy training.
Employees at Monahans are supported in giving back to their communities through volunteering, pro bono work, and fundraising; the team raised over GBP 24,000 in 2024 alone.
Monahans has aligned its efforts with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the B Corp framework to ensure it remains focused on long-term impact. The firm is already building on this progress with further improvements underway. This includes more detailed tracking of volunteering and pro bono hours, expanded partnerships with local charities and schools, and the development of a leadership programme for emerging talent within the business. A formal Community Needs Assessment will be conducted this year to understand where the firm’s support will be most impactful.
“We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but we know this is just the beginning. This accreditation shows we’re moving in the right direction, and we’re committed to building on that momentum,” concludes Sophie.
Richard Collins, Co-Founder of CSR-Accreditation, said, “We are delighted to award Silver Accreditation to Monahans in recognition of its commitment to sustainable business. Monahans has embraced CSR across all four pillars, showing how businesses can lead with purpose and make a positive impact.”
