We have reached the middle of 2025, and the rhythm of collaboration within GGI continues to resonate across continents, professions, and perspectives. With each new edition of INSIDER, we celebrate the rich tapestry of voices that shape our alliance – from Medellín to Atlanta, Helsinki to Zurich.
Our recent conferences in Medellín and Atlanta offered more than beautiful settings and vibrant local cultures. They reminded us of the enduring value of face-to-face interaction. At the Latin American Regional Conference in Medellín, Colombia, we explored the evolving regulatory landscape in Latin America, while the meeting in Atlanta showcased cross-border expertise on digital assets and cybersecurity. Photo highlights from both events, shared in this issue, capture not only moments of learning but also the camaraderie that defines GGI.
Looking ahead, we are eager to gather at the beginning of September in Helsinki for a combined event – GGI’s EasyMeet and the GGI Nordic-Baltic Meeting. In the end of October, we celebrate GGI’s 30th anniversary during our World Conference in Zurich. Each city offers a unique platform for dialogue – Helsinki with its innovation-driven economy, and Zurich as a gateway to European financial governance. These upcoming conferences will continue to equip you with forward-looking insights, practical tools, and global connections that set us apart.
As usual, this issue also features timely contributions from GGI member firms around the world. Norbert Tulak (NTAX, Poland) shares an update on the conversion of loan to share capital tax consequences. Also from the same country, Katarzyna Sawa-Rybaczek (Penteris, Poland) reflects on the future of real estate investment trusts (REITs). Harry Tang (Hugill & Ip, Hong Kong) has written an article on the new corporate re-domiciliation regime in Hong Kong, and Wiljadi Tan (Protemus, Indonesia) shares his learnings from 25 years of dealmaking, with a focus on the importance of the human touch.
David Schoenberger (SeatonHill Partners, USA) explores the impact of the Brazilian tax reform on businesses, and David López da Lama (CREA Inversión, Spain) highlights his country's attractiveness for international investors. Dr Peter Wilson (PB First Global Tax, UAE) informs on tax residence certificates and the applicant's place of effective management (POEM).
We also have some interesting contributions from [external] guest writers. Richard Collins (CSR Accreditation, UK) analyses the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and updates on what you need to know about it. GGI partner firm TaxDome (USA) underlines the significance of client trust in the age of cyberattacks. Charles McKissick (TOTL Advisors, USA) provides a strategic roadmap for global CPA firms for hiring and keeping talent.
These articles provide perspective and thought leadership on topics shaping the future of our professions.
Member firm achievements and new appointments reflect GGI’s dynamic growth. We extend a warm welcome to our newest members and congratulate those expanding their practices and capabilities.
Thank you to everyone who contributes their time, talent, and ideas to make GGI not just a network, but a community and a family. We look forward to seeing many of you in Helsinki and Zurich. Until then, stay healthy, connected, and inspired.
Warm regards
Your GGI Team
